Indoz Dances on 23 Oct. 2011 - To support Bosom Buddies
IndOz dances function was organised to raise funds for charity and donate the same to the Bosom Buddies, ACT. The Chief Guest for the function was Dr. Chris Bourke, MLA representing Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Ms Joy Burch. Other dignitaries included representatives from Multicultural Affairs office as well as High Commission of India.
The function conducted at Canberra Boys Grammar School was a great success with about 180 guests enjoying the show. To encourage wider participation ticket prices were kept very low. A raffle was conducted and dinner packs were sold at minor profit. Jewel of India restaurant provided the delicious dinner packs at very reasonable prices. Excess dinner packs were donated to Meal on Wheels charity at Holder.
There was a very good mix of Indian classical and Bollywood dances. All the dances were presented in highly professional manner. While most of the dances were performed by volunteers, Bollywood School of Dancing provided 3 of their experienced dancers to perform on some Bollywood numbers at highly discounted prices.
As grand finale of the function, 7 beautiful ladies from the professional dance group "Bellyup Bellydance", provided a scintillating perfomance of the Belly Dance. Big thank you "Bellyup Bellydance" for giving this performance at no cost.
Highly talented Pankaj Das of Shine n Rise Event House displayed his skills in Sound, Lighting and Programming for this function on voluntary basis. Mrs. Renu Sharma was an outstanding MC for this function and she kept the audience highly engaged.
The treasurer from Bosom Buddies Marisa Gerussi thanked the Association for the donation of $500 and said that this was a big help as Bosom Buddies do not receive any aid from government or local organisations. Bosom Buddies did set up an information stall and could sell few of their products. Some members of the IAAC community made direct donations to Bosom Buddies.
All artists were provided with dinner packs, appreciation certificates and free entry to the function.The Executive Committee would like to thank all artists who volunteered their time and showcased their talent to a large audience.
